I have spent most of my career where private wealth meets digital assets. I started as a banker, was later Senior Executive Officer at AMINA Bank, the Swiss bank for digital assets, and went on to found Alpine Cipher, a Web3 advisory, and Pocketlife, a members' concierge club that looked after principals in Zurich, Geneva and Dubai for seven years.

Through all of it, one question kept coming back. Friends, clients, people I had just met at dinner: "Where can I actually spend my crypto?" Which hotel takes USDT. Which dealer, which jeweller, which yacht charter, which developer. I heard it almost every week, and my answer was always a few names I had picked up from someone else, none of which I could personally vouch for.

That works between friends. It does not work when a large payment is about to leave a wallet. The people asking had plenty of options. What they did not have was a way to tell which options were real, and who was on the other side of the payment.

So I built the answer I wished I could have given them. Alpine Gate is a directory where every merchant has been checked for its licence, its live crypto acceptance and its service standard, and where the check itself is something you can open and read. It says what was verified, against which source, and on which date.

The verification runs on Proof Rail, a certified verification platform, so every merchant profile carries a live certificate and a QR code you can scan on the spot. Proof Rail is part of the same group as Alpine Gate, and every record says so. What it gives you is consistency: the same eight checks, the same evidence standard and the same public registry for every name on the site.

We started in Dubai and Abu Dhabi because that is where the question was loudest. The standard travels: a valid licence confirmed against the local register, crypto acceptance tested live, and a service standard reviewed every year, wherever the merchant is. Zurich, Geneva, Singapore, Hong Kong and Miami follow, in that order of readiness, and members are introduced across all of them. The same people who asked me about Dubai ask me about Zurich and Singapore; the directory should answer both.

Around the directory there is a little extra service for those who want it. The Desk arranges introductions and bookings for members, much as Pocketlife did. Membership is optional. The directory is open to everyone, and you never pay us in order to pay a merchant. Alpine Gate does not hold funds; you settle directly with the merchant from your own wallet.
